Visite 2 of my lofts

Actually I live in hire house, by consequently I can't build a loft in hard. Moreover, I haven't any money to put in a big pigeon's loft. So, I have decided to build a loft by myself.
To start, I have collect a lot of information about it via several member of our French club (Club Français de Pigeons Culbutants et Hauts-Volants) in order to build a perfect loft for the breeding of this special sport : the pigeon sport (roller and tumbler).
See at the right side a plan of a good loft for this :
Schematic of a good loft The perfect loft will be 3 boxes : one for the breeding, and to for the pigeons in training, to separate males of the females. It will be of limited size, to catch easily the birds, 2m for the height, 1m for the width and 2m for the depth for each boxes.
The sunning of the morning is good for the health, a southeast location will be adapted.
So, the perfection is impossible.

     - In first, I meet the problem of the location and the lake of side in my garden. After several schematics in my computer and drawings, I have decided to make only 2 boxes in keeping the good sizes. One box for the breeding and one for the training. I have take care to be able to transform the breeding side in training box when the breeding season is end.
ground saving      - Next, the second problem that I met is like I live in hire, it is possible that I will move in other house, I must to find a unsettle solution. I have decide to build the loft in several doorplates of 1m of width. I have 2 doorplate for the back, 2 for each sides, 2 for the front including the doors and 2 for the inside split. Actually my loft measure 2m by 2m. But, I have built it in thinking to permet the addition of a third box to fit with my first schematic for later.
unsettle doorplates    - For the design the wood boards, cover the outsides, are overlap. I have chosen the treat pine wood because it is less expensive and easy to work. total 100€.
     - for the ground it is advise to heighten the ground, to have a dry box. the ground is put on several roks in water-repellent wood to prevent the water from the drink system.
     - For the roof, I need a black roof like my house for the design. I have chosen a asphalt black steel plate (easy to unsettle).

inside split in 2 parts      - The Loft organisation. For the inside split, like the side there are 2 doorplates, one full to permit to fix the perches. And one with a grate.
ascend balcony      - For the doors and the ascend balcony, I have take inspiration on my friend Jean-Manuel Diogo, it is a balcony of 40x40x40cm with a hole at the top of diametre 10cm in order to the pigeon can enter but not turn out, the training for the porthole tack around 3 days.
Individual Perches      - the perches are individual in "invert V" form to have any clean pigeons and quiet pigeons.
breeder cases      - For the Cases of the breeding, I have chosen to have a case in 2 floors like my frend Emmanuel André. Description : one total case oh 50cm height composed of 2 floors, the groud floor measure 50cm width by 40cm depth and the middle plate measure 20cm depth. This one permit to have 1 bird's nest on each floor the first floor for the female egg laying and the ground floor for the breeding of the little pigeons.

My Loft My Loft      To conclude, Here it is my loft for 200€ only (100€ for the wood, and 100€ for additional supply, ground, roof, wood for the breeding cases, etc). I use this loft since several months and my pigeons seems to be ok to live here.

It's Done in Jully 2007 I have move of house and I extend my pigeon loft by a third part.
Now I have 3 Parts :
- One for the reproduction
- One for the Females and the youngs
- One for the Males

Here are the photos of this new loft :

My Portable Loft

You will find here, how I have built my Portable Loft:
Keys points :
    - it must be mobile, it is a minimum !!!
    - it must be little, to be put in my car box
    - it must be enough big to receive 4 pigeons (3 team pigeons + 1 dropper)

My Portable Loft My Portable Loft     In first, the dimensions, 60x40x40cm will be perfect for this. 60x40cm is a good size for 4 pigeons, 40cm of height is enough to a pigeon can't turn out by the porthole.
I want to have a pliant solution to take less size in my car, like a plastic pliant box.
My Portable Loft     one question : what sides to do pliant ? after drawings and schematics teh best sides seems to be the little sides (40x40cm) Pliant and the Big sides (60x40cm) to be flap.
My Portable Loft     I go to the tinker market, I need a plywood board for the ground and the top 80x60cm (4€) that I will cut in 2 parts, a lot of hinges (I need 18, I found a good promotion 4€ by 25), a lot of screw (8€), some paint (10€), any square grid 13x13mm (13€ by 50cm x 5m) etc. For a total of 39€. In 2 evening of work, I build a perfect pliant Portable Loft.
My Portable Loft My Portable Loft     The last point, the finnishing, which is very important. The Mobile loft must be in clear colour in order the pigeons can see in hight flying. The white and the yellow seems to be perfect, I chosen the yellow colour « sunshine ».
My Portable Loft     To put the final touch, I decided to paint the Culb's logo on the side. It is not the reason because I have any goods pigeons but it can participate and it is pleasant to see a beautifull functional portable loft.
